CRUISE CONTROL

ACTIVE

Active cruise control is a cruise control / speed limiter system with an extended cruise control function in relation to the distance of the vehicle in ahead.

This function is particularly suited to motorway driving in semi-dense or fluid traffic conditions which avoids systematic disconnection of the cruise control each time a vehicle is present ahead. When the radar detects a vehicle, a constant gap is maintained by automatically reducing the speed of the vehicle by up to 20 km/h thanks to the engine brake's action on the accelerator. When the lane becomes free, cruise control returns to the initially requested speed. If a deceleration of 20 km/h is not sufficient to maintain the gap, cruise control alerts the driver and restores control of the speed to the driver.

ADAPTIVE WITH STOP FUNCTION (ACC STOP)

The vehicle is equipped with a radar embedded in the centre of the front bumper with a maximum range of 150 metres. Between 30 km/h and 180 km/h, the Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop Function (ACC Stop) provides 2 functions:

  • Automatic vehicle speed maintenance at the value programmed by the driver
  • Automatic adjustment of the distance from the vehicle in front of you (3 predefined levels: far, normal and near)

This system detects a vehicle driving in front of it moving in the same direction. It automatically adjusts the speed of the vehicle to that of the vehicle in front of it, using the engine brake and the braking system (the brake lights then come on) to maintain a constant distance, down to a complete stop of the vehicle (for a vehicle fitted with an automatic gearbox) or down to 30 km/h (for a vehicle fitted with a manual gearbox)i.

ACTIVE CITY BRAKE & ACTIVE SAFETY BRAKE

ACTIVE CITY BRAKE

The Active City Brake is an automatic urban braking system activated if there is a risk of collision. This system allows the severity of the accident to be reduced or even avoided. To ensure this, a short-range LIDAR technology laser sensor is embedded in the upper part of the windscreen. It detects obstacles, such as a moving or stationary vehicle, moving in the same direction and in the same lane.

In the event of non-intervention by the driver, and at speeds up to 30 km/h, the Active City Brake automatically triggers full-power braking to reduce the speed difference between the vehicle and the obstacle. The automatic deceleration can reach up to 10 m/s².

ACTIVE SAFETY BRAKE

The Active Safety Brake (automatic emergency braking) occurs after the alert, if the driver does not react quickly enough and does not activate the vehicle’s brakes. Thus, with no action required by the driver, it helps avoid collision or limits its severity by reducing the vehicle’s speed. Registered vehicles, whether driving in the same direction or stationary, are taken into account by the system, as well as pedestrians present on the road (bicycles, motorcycles, animals and objects on the road are not detected). The Active Safety brake is activated if:

  • The vehicle speed is between 5 km/h and 140 km/h when a moving vehicle is detected.
  • The vehicle speed does not exceed 80 km/h when a stationary vehicle is detected.
  • The vehicle speed must not exceed 60 km/h when a pedestrian is detected.

DISTANCE ALERT

The Distance Alert function (collision risk warning) warns the driver that his or her vehicle risks colliding with the vehicle in ahead or a pedestrian present in his or her traffic lane.

This visual and audible warning is made just before the Active Safety Brake is triggered.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEM

STANDARD

The lane departure warning is a system that detects the unintentional crossing of a traffic lane ground marking using a camera that recognises continuous or broken lines. To ensure safe driving, the camera analyses the image and, in the event of a decrease in the driver’s vigilance and a speed greater than 80 km/h, triggers a visual and audible warning if the driver veers off course.

ACTIVE

Between 65 and 180 km/h, the Active Lane Departure Warning also corrects trajectory: as soon as the system identifies a risk of unintentionally crossing one of the ground marking lines, the steering system gradually counter-steers to maintain the vehicle in its initial lane. If the driver wishes to maintain the trajectory of the vehicle, he or she can prevent the correction by holding the steering wheel firmly (for an avoidance manoeuvre, for example). The correction will be interrupted as soon as the direction indicator lamps are activated.

BLIND-SPOT MONITORING

STANDARD

The Blind Spot Sensors inform the driver of the presence of a vehicle in the adjacent lane to the right or left in his or her blind-spot area. This equipment is available with the front and rear parking aid or Visiopark 1.

ACTIVE

Between 12 km/h and 140 km/h, this system warns the driver of the presence of another vehicle in the blind spots of his or her vehicle, if this presents a potential danger. The alert is given by an indicator light located in the mirror on the side in question, as soon as a vehicle (car, truck, bike) is detected.

This system works in conjunction with the Active Lane Departure Warning: in addition to the indicator light mounted within the corresponding side mirror, a trajectory correction will be felt if a line is crossed with the direction indicator light activated, to help the driver avoid a collision.

DRIVER VIGILANCE

DRIVING TIME WARNING

The driving time warning is an alert which is triggered as soon as the system detects that the driver has not taken a break after two hours of driving at a speed greater than 65 km/h. This warning is given by the display of a message urging you to take a break, accompanied by an audible signal.

DRIVER ATTENTION WARNING

The driving time warning is supplemented by the driver attention warning. The vehicle is equipped with a camera located at the top of the windscreen used to analyse its trajectory. The system evaluates the driver's vigilance by identifying differences in trajectory in relation to the markings on the ground. It can then trigger several audible and visual warning levels (« Stay alert! » or « Take a break! »).
