There are advantages and disadvantages depending on the type of vehicle.
Clients should be made aware firstly, that Finance houses do not normally discount a vehicle should it be more than +/- 8 years old. Also distance covered and general condition is a factor. It is best for the client to try & dispose of the vehicle himself by means of swap columns or selling direct to a friend or relative. Likewise should the vehicle be a popular make and in good condition with low mileage, the above proposal would probably benefit by enjoying a better price. However most clients do not like taking this route as it is to inconvenient for them, in which case, it would be easier to approach a dealer and trade the vehicle in.
