Peugeot Motors South Africa, building on their existing strong relations with the Orange Farm Community, donated over R63 000 to the Inkanyezi HIV/Aids Orange Farm Charity fund.  The money was collected from the Peugeot Challenge Cup (PCC) golf tournament, where participants each donated R25 towards the charity.

Inkanyezi provides home-based care for sufferers of HIV and aids, as well as providing support for orphans and abandoned children. They assist with obtaining social grants, distributing food parcels, and providing support groups for HIV/Aids.

Inkanyezi have been pivotal in implementing, with the help of Peugeot, a number of structures and services within the community, including the very first HIV/Aids test centre, a crèche that houses up to 100 children, a home-based centre as well as a garden that feeds almost 1500 impoverished residents.

The money donated will be distributed among the various projects and initiatives within the Inkanyezi organization. It is sure to be useful in the development of the Thulamntwana facility which, once completed, will feature and HIV/Aids Centre, a church, an additional crèche, playground and sporting grounds in addition to an after school centre which will provide students within the area assistance with their homework and additional tutoring in subjects like maths and science.

“Peugeot have helped us with a of a lot of things, and their support has driven many of these projects forward, “ says Father Guido, founder of the Inkanyezi organization. “They have also gone beyond providing financial support, as many Peugeot employees have visited Orange Farm and helped set up many of the facilities and projects we see today.”

Speaking of the aid, Dineo Pooe, advertising manager at Peugeot Motors SA stated that, “Peugeot has had a long standing relationship with Inkanyezi since 2002, and the PCC has been donating money specifically from the PCC tournament in 2007. This will be the second time we’ve had a chance to donate earnings from the tournament.”

The PCC is an amateur national tournament, hosted by Peugeot Motors together with its dealer network, held in 21 various countries. This tournament served as a qualifier to the Peugeot International Pro-Am event.

The tournament consisted of one professional and two amateurs per team, the amateurs being the best man and the best lady who qualified during one of the national finals in 21 countries of the Peugeot Challenge Cup.

In addition to the money donated to Inkanyezi, another surprising development were the winners of the Pro-Am tournament 2008.

Lenza de Jaeger and De Wet Lessing, representing South Africa, alongside pro Cyrille Du Plessis, took first place in the Peugeot International ProAm held in Paris, just ahead of the Madagascar team.
