26 04 2007Potchefstroom University Rugby
The third annual FNB Super Bowl, featuring the top eight rugby-playing tertiary institutions in South Africa, took place at the University of the North West - Potchefstroom Campus - from 27 April to 1 May 2006.
Peugeot's involvement in rugby is a natural choice given that the sport's values are compatible with those of Peugeot's: reliability, aesthetics, dynamism and innovation. In 1996, the Brand decided to embark on the rugby adventure, becoming the official partner of the Stade Toulousain in Paris. Mirroring its commitments in France, Peugeot also supports rugby through some of its foreign subsidiaries. This is especially true in England with the Coventry Rugby Club, in Argentina with the country's national team, the Pumas, and in Chile and Portugal with the rugby federation. In Uruguay, Peugeot organised the Peugeot Kids Cup for the very first time this year and in South Africa we sponsored the St John's Rugby Festival in Johannesburg in 5th, 7th and 9th April and the FNB Rugby Superbowl in Potchefstroom in 26 - 30 April 2007.
The eight teams who played at the FNB Super Bowl were selected during the SASSU National Week, held in Stellenbosch earlier in the year, and consisted of the following teams (in no particular order):
University of Pretoria - Tukkies
University of Free State - Shimlas
University of Johannesburg - UJ
North West University - Potchefstroom Campus - Pukke
Cape Peninsula University of Technology - CPUT
Tshwane University of Technology - TUT
Nelson Mandela Metropole University - NMMU
Central University of Technology, Free State - CUT
The NWU-Pukke played against the Nelson Mandela Metropole University in the final and won comfortably 50 - 16.
