Club Peugeot Afrique du Sud at Cape Classic Car Show
Cape Town 15 November 2009

What turned out to be the biggest ever classic car show held in the Cape Town area with more than 1000 classics covering three rugby fields, also turned out to be Club Peugeot’s most representative exhibition of all time.

Club Peugeot had no less than 30 classics on show, ranging from a 1928 Peugeot 190S up to the latest Peugeot classics of the last decade. Many a grandfather, mom and dad, or youngster had a chance to relate to one or other classic Peugeot which formed part of their family lives at some or other stage; all sharing Peugeot nostalgia from days gone by.

Club Peugeot had the privilege of a courtesy visit from Jean Francois Bernard, Managing Director for Peugeot Motors South Africa who represented Peugeot SA Head Office. With Club Peugeot exhibiting the second largest display of one marque vehicles, not even the Cape’s black South Easter (wind) could damper his enthusiasm which he shared with the club members.

Some very rare and interesting Peugeots on display included amongst others a 1930 Peugeot 201, 1946 Peugeot 202 (ex-military pick up), 1957 Peugeot 203, 1963 Peugeot 403 pick up, 1968 Peugeot 404 coupè and a 1987 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 not to forget the Peugeot 404 pick up straight from the farm yard with hay bales and all.

However, no Peugeot stand can be complete without sharing Peugeot’s latest technology and pride in the form of a new Peugeot 308 CC, representing the way forward for the Lion mark. Club Peugeot Afrique du Sud wishes to thank Peugeot SA for this kind gesture.

Ian Loubser, Chairman of Club Peugeot Afrique du Sud, praised each and every member who had contributed towards making the Peugeot stand the most representative of all times by exhibiting almost each and every classic Peugeot model that were seen on SA roads (and more).
